Sevenoaks 0 – Anchorians 4

We are top of the league, I say we are top the league!! Anchs finished the first half of their return to kent prem 1 with a hard earned 4-0 victory that sees them lead the table of the half way stage having won our sixth game in a row!

Following a good warm up and a pre match chat the game started in an even contest with both sides cancelling each other out. The home side had the first real chance of the match with Gary Jackson making a great clearance from a short corner. However soon Anchs’ midfield took control with Jake Stevens and Mike Lindley in charge. Following a good team move Callum Harris slotted home to put Anchs in the lead. Soon after Chris Lack missed a golden opportunity from a penalty flick which he put straight at the keeper. Sevenoaks had the next few opportunities from short corners which saw Anchs keeper Darren Richardson make a couple of very good saves. Just before half time Callum Harris put Anchs two up following some good play from Rob Dixon and Ben Selby.

The second half started with Sevenoaks on top. Again some great saves from keeper Darren Richardson and excellent defending from Gary Jackson, Gareth Price and Mark O’Brien kept Anchs in the lead. Soon Callum Harris squeezed home to complete his hat trick and then the lights went out!! Yes the floodlights turned off. Thankfully they turned back on and Anchs despite being reduced to ten men following a harsh decision against Gareth Price broke quickly and Callum Harris slotted home his fourth to give Anchs a fantastic win which sees them top the table going into 2014!! A massive well done to everyone involved!

Anchorians 7 – Old Bordenians 2

Anchs welcomed local rivals old bordenians for what they knew would be a tough encounter. Although old bordenians are surprisingly at the bottom of the table Anchs knew they that they would have to play some excellent hockey in order to gain three points. It was the away side who made the better start and only a good short corner save from keeper Darren RIchardson kept Anchs in it. However soon Anchs woke up and by half time were three nil up following goals from Callum Harris, a good finish from Mike Lindley from a short corner and a good finish from Lindon Lockhart. The second half saw Anchs play decent hockey which the opposition couldn’t cope with. Further goals from Lindon Lockhart, Callum Harris, Ben Selby and Chris Lack ensured a good return for Anchs. The game did see Anchs switch off twice and be punished by the away side to take a little sparkle off the result. Although this was far from Anchs best performance of the season another three points sets them up well for a tough game next week away at sevenoaks to finish 2013.
