Anchs continued their march towards the title with a well earned victory against a decent Marden side who sit comfortably mid table this season. Having won a hard fought game 4-2 earlier in the season, Anchs knew they were in for a tough game. Following a good warm up and team talk Anchs made the perfect start to the game when within one minute CJ Verrall slotted home after a great team move involving the whole front seven of the side. However Marden soon got to grips with the game a good one on one save by Darren Richardson and excellent sweeping of the pads by Gareth Price kept Anchs in the lead. Soon following a quick break away Lindon Lockhart scored a peach, smashing the ball into the top corner. With Anchs on top, Gareth Price placed a well hit short corner to put Anchs three up. Towards the end of the half Callum Harris made it four nil with an excellent finish. The second half saw Anchs switch off and Marden score within the first few minutes following a deft touch from their forward. However soon a double from Lindon Lockhart put Anchs back in total control and despite Marden scoring a second from a short corner Anchs continued their winning streak. Next week Maidstone come to town at 1.30. All support would be welcome.
A top of the table clash which saw Anchs eventually come out on top in this local derby. A massive thank you to all the support that came with us and cheered us on.
This proved to be a game of two halves with both sides using the wind to their advantage. The first half was all Gore Court with the wind behind them. They took the lead from a short corner with a deflection of Lindon Lockhart and soon doubled their lead with a powerful finish to lead two nil at half time. The half time team talk focused on using the wind to Anchs advantage and regaining control of the middle.
Moving Chris Lack into the middle proved a master stroke and within three minutes of the restart it was two all with Lindon Lockhart scoring two good goals. With the wind behind them Anchs were dominant and soon a good team goal saw Jake Stevens slip the ball to Callum Harris who made it three two to Anchs.
This seemed to bring Gore Court back to life and soon they won a penalty stroke which Anchs keeper Darren Richardson saved to his right. To make matters worse Gary Jackson was given a very harsh yellow card. However following a superb aerial from Rob Dixon and some great play from Jack Oxby the ball ended up in the D with Lindon Lockhart who made no mistake and put Anchs four two up. Some excellent short corner saves from Darren Richardson and outstanding defending from Michael Lindley, Gareth Price and Gary Jackson kept Gore Court out. A fine team goal with saw almost ever member of the team touch the ball ended up with a tap in for Ben Selby at the back post and gave Anchs a well deserved five two victory which keeps them on track for promotion. Next week Marden come to town for a 1.30 push back. All support would be most welcome.
It was a clash of the top two sides in kent premier 1 with Anchs hosting Ashford. Following a mediocre warm up it was a Anchs who started the better with Jake Stevens and Jamie Caulfield controlling the middle and with Chris Lack and Callum Harris making good runs up front. Anchs were very unlucky not to take the lead when they saw a shot come back of the bar. Ashford did win a few short corners but good saves by Darren Richardson and excellent defending by Mike Lindley, Gareth Price and Gary Jackson kept the scores goalless at half time. The second half saw Anchs take the lead following a deft touch following good play by Jack Oxby and Jack Stevens. Anchs lead was soon doubled following a good finish from Mike Lindley from a short corner. Although Ashford managed to pull one back and did have a decent amount of pressure in the second half Anchs defence stood firm. Following an excellent break away by Rob Dixon and good work from Ben Selby down the flank, a great finish saw Anchs claim a well deserved three one win which sees them remain top of the league. Next up is a local derby away to Gore Court
A fantastic victory which keeps Anchs top of the table against a good side who have won most of their games at home. Following a quick journey down the M20 and a decent warm up on a great pitch Anchs heading into this game knowing that a good overall team performance would be needed to come away with three points. It was folkestone however who made the better start and only two good clearances from Gary Jackson and Gareth Price and a decent stop from Darren Richardson from a short corner kept the scores level. However half way through the first half saw Anchs won a short corner which was put away by away by Lyndon Lockhart on his reverse. One nil Anchs. A great individual goal from the same player which saw him rifle a shoot into the top corner put Anchs in command at half time. Two nil at half time.
The second half saw Folkestone have most of the possession and a lot of territory but due to excellent defending they never really troubled Anchs goal. Excellent midfield work from Jake Stevens and Chris Lack broke up play well and excellent tracking back by Rob Dixon, Chris Verrall, Jack Oxby and Ben Selby aided Anchs in their cause. Overall a very satisfying win and good teas and a lovely pint to wash it down – all in all a good day.
